History of YIC Yogurt Innovation Centre LLC
Swedish company Alfa Laval has founded our professional predecessor company, Alfa-Separator GmbH in Budapest in 1903, as its Central European subsidiary. Since then the development of dairy industrial technologies and machines plays a main role in the history of our registered office.
In the last 20 years the research of yogurts became our core business. We take seriously the century-long experience that regular consumption of yogurt has an outstandingly beneficial physiological effect and prolongs our healthy years. The Russian scientist Mechnikov was the first to come to this realization when he was looking for the secret of why Caucasian shepherds consuming yogurt regularly live up to an old age in very good health. It was partly thanks to the unraveling of this mystery that he won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1908. Following the example of our renowned predecessor, we set out the target to create a dessert with a pleasant chocolate-yogurt flavour combination that fits well in our present and future eating habits. As the result of our work, we managed to develop the Yogibar® dessert, which is a Belgian dark chocolate snack filled with a delicious yogurt cream containing beneficial probiotic live flora in multiple concentrations. The innovation was based on Attila Rákosi's invention filed in 2015 and the research results of Ludmilla Kulesova.

The novelty and values of Yogibar® dessert were recognized with the Innovation Award at the SIAL Paris 2022 International Food Industrial Show.

We have the right to utilize the Yogibar® dessert product and its production process Patent in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Mexico, Russia, Kazakhstan, the Caucasian states, as well as our patent is pending in China, Canada, the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, and Turkey.
For the production of Yogibar® desserts, we established our reference plant in Hungary, which is equipped with a highly automated production line developed for the production of desserts. After obtaining the certifications required for the operation of the plant, we started to introduce Yogibar® dessert in the first designated export markets.

Our main ambition is to contribute to the healthier eating of people by spreading our Yogibar® dessert all over the world. Following this goal, we offer the in-house production and sales of Yogibar® desserts for the interested dairy companies in a franchise system. In addition to passing on know-how, we are ready to sell the special technological equipment for production of desserts, as well as we provide services related to installation, putting into operation and training of technology.
